Outsidelands Music Festival just occurred this past weekend at Golden Gate park. There were but a handful of real musicians I would have loved to enjoy. This year's line up has been the best it's been for a while, but it wasn't worth 2 benjamins if you ask me.
Brandon and I think and feel African music a lot these days. We talk about our music ventures around the world and ideally want to make the music pilgrimmage to Timbuktu Mali for the mother of all music festivals; Festival au Desert. Will be a pretty sacred and an incredibly moving experience for us both. can't wait. (below is a trailer that gives you a closer look of the festival by Essakane Film)
While I wait, I leave you of what we were trippin on last night over great steak and baby back ribs. love the lil man in the bow tie. super groovin in the second video with his drum stick.

These videos are of a large Senegalese drum ensemble, comprised of a majority of Doudou N'Diaye Rose's (composer and drum leader) family. In total Doudou has 43 children and slew of grand children. The traditional drum of Senegal, the Sabar is used to during this incredible field recording.
