off and on

Been away from flowers for a bit as music and the great outdoors have inspired me tremendously these days. This week, it's been Malian musician Afel Bucoum. So bad-ayss. His newest album with his band Alkibar called Tabital Pulaaku has been on heavy rotation. My favorite song on the alb is Allah Tanu. Brandon says I oughta listen to the album from beginning to end without replaying each song. For me, I just like to fall in love to a song first. When I do, I appreciate the album a lot more and it allows me to throughly listen to the album in its entirety. I wish there was a youtube video for the song. This live little snippet festival video will definitely do for now.

Brandon and I had it again with highway 1 and enjoyed every possible beach up to Santa Cruz.
Picnic-ed it up at my favorite spot alongside the artichoke farm overlooking a beach that looked like it could have been stripped from a National Geographic magazine.
Gorgeous as ever.

Finally made it to the boardwalk, only to ride one $1 dollar ride. Pretty much over it the moment we got there considering the overwhelming crowds around. My severe phobia of roller coasters didn't help either (I'm a pussy I know). Figured it was a monday, but nonetheless still packed as ever.

Made a massive attempt driving around town in search of an open lit area in Santa Cruz in hopes to fly his RC airplane, but to no avail. Waited the next day to do so round his neighborhood beach (love that he's just a block away from peacefulness).
Took some in flight shots. Gave me the opportunity to put in some practice with Batman.

The drive back from SC was a bit nonsense. Took an alternative route back home. We were on the windiest road and for the first time in forever got car sick. We took the 9 back home. Note. Never take the 9 after sunset. It's up to all kinds of no good. too much windiness for one girl to handle.

Back at his place, a lovely package awaited us both. He's always got an affinity/obsession whether it's radio airplanes, his fish tank or cymbals, its always somethin. Lately it's been stained glass art deco lamps. So far he's got two fishies, a miniature light house, a couple turtles and a kitty.
He found this lovely floral lamp on e bay for me a few weeks ago.
Instant love at first sight. ADORE is more like it.
Sweet addition it'll be to my colorFULL room.

On or Off, whether I'm with or away from flowers, it's a wonderful reminder of what lights up my life.
