Dee and Darrell

Met the sweetest kindest down home folks to ever walk into the restaurant yesterday evening. Funny timing as they came in asking for me. My sweet Francine mentioned I'd be taking care of them without me knowing. took their order. Dee had the Linguine Pescatore and Darrell the Sticky Fingers (finger lickin espresso bbq pork ribs)
Somethin about the way they talked to each other and the constant sense of value and respect I felt every time I approached the table. Felt different to me. Never felt like I was waiting. They said I oughta sit and enjoy their company a bit. The restaurant was empty so I did as I was told. Sat and enjoyed dinner with them. Didn't eat but definitely enjoyed lighthearted conversation as I was still on the clock.
We got down to askin about professions. I was asked what I do for a living as they sensed this wasn't my only means of income. Told em all about flowers. my dreams. my hopes for the future. This exchange was fate. Dee and Darrell are retired farmers. Flower Farmers. Talked my ear off about their flower farm in Alabama and how I'd always have a place to stay and pick flowers if I ever step foot in that area. I never felt so understood by total strangers. Now come to think of it, they never felt like strangers. Eager to get all my info and do whatever they could to help get me going with flowers.
Can't say how grateful I was for yesterday, for Dee and Darrell. Made me realize the world aint so bad afterall.
