This one's for the ladies

I've got some 'always holding it down' loving, empowering ladies in my life. A couple weeks ago was the passing of my dear Auntie Emi. After hearing about her death, I was eager to hear from mom of all the memories she had with Auntie as they were awfully close. She was a kind, graceful lady. Like me, she also had it in for flowers. She raised two wonderful daughters. It saddens me as she left the world so suddenly. I remember during our family reunion a couple years ago and speaking to Auntie briefly. She spoke of career paths and pursuing what you love and doing just that.

I wanna thank my Mama for never forcing me towards the medical career route as she is. She sees death often as she works as a nurse for Sutter Hospice. She's been a nurse her whole career life. At times she worked 24 hour days and came home merely to eat and rest. That's how I saw my mom during most of my childhood; eating and resting.

I'm thinkin she always knew my creative flare needed to shine. When I told her I had visions of being a tattoo artist (no longer feel that way now) she said I oughta go to art school and pursue it. Glad I didn't as private art school is ever so expensive on the pocket. Debt would have been with me forever if I did.

I've got some lovely strong ladies in my life. This song is dedicated to them all.
They know who they are.
